Description

Gain the skills and essential knowledge needed for completing the manual bookkeeping activities that underpin all accountancy and finance roles. This qualification will develop complex skills and knowledge necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy roles or study. Students completing this qualification will become competent in financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. They will also be introduced to business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), including an understanding of the documents and reports produced on payroll software, timescales for submissions and payments.

Course Information

Key Features

You'll learn how to apply the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping and how to prepare period-end adjustments, having incomplete information, and including how to extend the trial balance. You will also learn how to manage non-current assets, from acquisition to disposal of them, and how to prepare Sole Traders and Partnerships financial accounts. You'll also learn how to calculate VAT, review and verify Making Tax Digital (MTD) VAT returns, and apply VAT legislation requirements. You will also learn how to report VAT related information and study the implications of errors, late filing, and payments.

Entry Requirements

Students don’t need any previous accounting experience or qualifications to start studying the AAT short qualifications, just a willingness to learn. It’s ideal if one is a school or university leaver, or thinking of changing career, and want to try AAT without making a commitment to the full qualification.

Assessment

There are two computer-based assessments in total which you may sit at our AAT accredited exam centre.
