Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management learners will cover topics such as:

  • Planning for the safety of people at spectator events
  • Managing the safety and security of people at spectator events
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures for safety and security at spectator events
  • Managing information for action and decision-making for spectator events
  • Managing resources for safety and security at events
  • Managing risks in crowded places
  • Managing the initial response to significant or major incidents and plan for resilience
  • Working with others to improve customer service

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is suitable for individuals working in a senior role in spectator safety management such as stadium manager, safety officer or chief safety officer.

Entry Requirements

To register on to this qualification, learners are required to be 18 years of age or above, working at Level 2 or above in English, with good communications skills. This qualification requires learners to complete a work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification, before certification.

In addition to the specific outcomes detailed within this specification, prior to certification, learners are required to show evidence of attending ACT Strategic counterterrorism training

Do you need to be working to take the qualification?

This qualification is for candidates who are already employed or are looking to progress into a safety management role with spectator safety and are involved in planning of safety at an event, managing resources, and developing and implementing policies.

It is also suitable for those wishing to take the qualification as a platform for progression onto further learning in this area.  Candidate may be looking to or currently working as Safety Officers, Security Managers, Event Planners.

How many credits are required to complete it?

Learners need to achieve 90 credits to complete this qualification.

Delivery & Content

The knowledge elements of this qualification can be completed through a combination of tutor-led sessions and self-study.

To complete the Highfield Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management (RQF), learners must complete:
-all units contained within the mandatory group, and
-3 units contained within Optional Group A

Mandatory group - Learners must achieve all units in this group :

  1. Plan for the safety of people at spectator events
  2. Manage the safety and security of people at
    spectator events
  3. Develop, implement and review policies and
    procedures for safety and security at spectator
    events
  4. Manage information for action and decision-making
    for spectator events
  5. Manage resources for safety and security at events
  6. Manage risks in crowded places
  7. Manage initial response to significant or major
    incidents and plan for resilience
  8. Work with others to improve customer services

Optional group - Learners must achieve 3 units in this group :

  1. Monitor and solve customer service problems
  2. Recruit, select and retain people
  3. Support individuals’ learning and development
  4. Identify and evaluate opportunities for innovation
    and improvement
  5. Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of
    your work in your area of responsibility
  6. Develop your knowledge, skills and competence

Assessment

Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence and be observed carrying out their spectator safety management role in the workplace on a number of occasions.
