The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment into a Supervisor role in the workplace. It is designed for those learners working or wishing to work in the match day and events stewarding industry at a supervisory level. This could include a variety of sporting, festival or musical events.

Structure

The Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety (RQF) covers topics such as:

  • preparing for spectator events
  • assisting with the movement of spectators
  • dealing with crowd issues at events
  • managing and resolving conflicts
  • dealing with incidents at spectator events
  • supporting the work of the team and organisation

Course Duration

Learners achieve this qualification within an average of 6 months.

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is designed for those learners working or wishing to work in the match day and events stewarding industry. This could include a variety of sporting, festival or musical events.

Entry Requirements

To register for this qualification learners should be aged 16 or above for mandatory units and 18 or above for optional unit. Learners should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
In addition to the specific outcomes detailed within this specification, prior to certification, learners are required to show evidence of:
• attending the ACT Awareness e-learning counterterrorism training
• attending first aid training or attaining a recognised first-aid award

Do you need to be working to take the qualification?

This qualification is for candidates who are already employed or are required to have the knowledge, skills and understanding and progress into the stewarding industry.

How many credits are required to complete it?

Learners need to achieve 24 credits to complete this qualification.

Delivery & Content

The knowledge elements of this qualification can be completed through classroom or online learning, together with some self-study and assessment in the workplace.

To complete the Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety, learners must complete all units contained within the mandatory group.
Mandatory group - Learners must achieve all units in this group :

  1. Prepare for spectator events
  2. Assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at events
  3. Help to manage and resolve conflicts
  4. Deal with incidents at spectator events
  5. Support the work of your team and organisation

Additional unit - This unit is to be taken by those learners who will be deployed at designated areas where they may be responsible for physical intervention to deal with spectators and other stakeholders :

  1. Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry

This qualification requires learners to complete a work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification, before certification.

Assessment

The knowledge elements of the mandatory units in this qualification are assessed through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations that will also be internally quality assured by the Centre.
