Level 2 Apprenticeships Community Activator Coach — Rugby Pathway

  • The Community Activator Coach plays a key role in Communities as an Activator, Sports Coach, Activity Leader, Community Worker or Outreach Officer. The activity sector plays an important role in improving the health and wellbeing of the nation and provides a positive environment which supports (especially young) people to grow and develop through sport and physical activity. The Community Activator Coach promotes, delivers and coaches fun, inclusive, and engaging activities that help whole communities.

  • Typically 14 —18 months

Apprentices without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and Maths prior to the end point assessment

One of the following may be added to the Apprenticeships:

  • (Level 2) England Rugby Coaching Award
  • (Level 3) Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Online courses provided to all: Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity

Apprentices will undertake a series of taught workshops blended with self-study and research and complete an e-portfolio covering topics such as:

  • Understand the benefits of physical activity and sport for all
  • The basic principles of behavioural change
  • Know the importance of credible customer insight
  • Know the importance of effective leadership and coaching in the delivery of a physical activity or sports session.
  • Understand the role of the coach in developing effective motivational relationships
  • Understand the tasks involved in delivering community level events
  • Know how to support customer welfare and where required, manage disruptive behaviours by individuals within the group setting
  • Know how to make best use of national and major events

Know how to work with community organisations to run tailored neighbourhood events that make best use of local assets

Candidates will be “On Programme” assessed in the workplace at least once every 8 weeks to evidence competence in the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for EPA. End Point Assessment (EPA): Practical Coaching Observation, Presentation with question and answers and a Panel interview

Levy employers: £6000 per candidate from your digital account

Non-levy employers: funded with a 10% employer contribution

Please note: For any Apprentice under the age of 25, the employer will be exempt from paying their National Insurance Contributions

On successful completion of the Standard, all Apprentices will be automatically given CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) at Associate Membership level.
