The Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to 5 years. Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.

In order to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) learners must complete 15 mandatory units Guided Learning: 1080 (hours) including all the criteria learners must know about within the delivery requirements.

No formal entry requirements but learners do need placement hours in order to achieve the assessment criteria as follows:
Suggested placement time with specific age ranges*:
Age Range of 0 -1 year 11 months – placement hours x 25
The age range of 2 – 2 years 11 months – placement hours x 130
The age range of 3-5 years – placement hours x 170
Specialized placement such as 5-7 years – placement hours x 60
TOTAL = 385 hours

Learners taking the Diploma must also complete an Effective Practice Study Task and one Extended Assessment Task (externally set, externally marked).
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. All units are graded A*-D. Learners taking the Certificate must also complete an Effective Practice Study Task (externally set, externally marked).
